GaMa Studios #2

This project involved transforming a client’s bedroom into a dynamic, multipurpose music studio. The client, a music composer and teacher, envisioned a space that could seamlessly function as a recording studio, jamming area, music classroom, and an intimate event venue for poetry readings and stand-up comedy, accommodating up to 15 to 20 people. A key requirement was effective soundproofing.

We approached the design with an open-plan concept, allowing the space to adapt to different functions throughout the day. Soundproof windows, flooring, and an insulated entry door were introduced to ensure acoustic integrity. Custom acoustic wall panels were crafted on-site using rockwool embedded in wooden frames, wrapped in blue acoustic fabric, and finished with uniquely patterned yellow laser-cut jali, with each panel carrying a distinct design.

To support both function and aesthetics, a modular library of rectangular boxes was designed to store studio notes and double as display decor. Lighting played a crucial role in transforming the mood of the space: a ceiling with diffused, dimmable, and color-changing lights allowed for versatile atmospheres, while track lighting defined a stage-like area for performances. Full-height acoustic fabric curtains added both visual drama and enhanced sound control.

The overall theme celebrated bold ideas, functional detailing, and pop-inspired elements, creating a vibrant, high-energy environment that fosters creativity exactly as the client envisioned.
