Step inside the House of Medley, a home designed for a family of four where every room has its own story to tell. The idea was simple yet layered: to create spaces that reflect the unique personalities of the people who live here, while still blending together as one harmonious whole. Much like listening to a medley of songs, the mood shifts as you move from room to room, yet everything flows with a rhythm that feels complete.
The journey begins at the entrance. The first impression is a gleaming white door with a gold grille, inspired by the grandeur of Art Deco gateways. It sets the stage for the living room that lies beyond, where the essence of Art Deco is reimagined in a minimal and contemporary way. The walls here are calm in tones of white and light grey, allowing the furniture and accents to speak more boldly.
As you step further in, the eye is instantly drawn to the window seating, one of the highlights of this home. It is not just a seat but a corner to pause, to sip tea while gazing at the sky, or to lose yourself in the world outside. Above it, the ceiling curves into an arch with delicate flutings, almost like a sculptural canopy. The furniture is dressed in matte black with fluted grey details, outlined in slender lines of gold. Rich velvet fabrics in deep blue and mustard bring a sense of drama, while repeated fluted patterns in the lamps, partition door, chandelier, and even the furniture itself tie the whole space together.
From here, the story shifts to the master bedroom. The palette becomes more restrained, revolving around yellow and black. The walls glow softly in yellow, creating warmth, while sleek black furniture grounds the room with elegance. Subtle gold accents bring in a touch of refinement. Fluted textures appear again, across the headboard and cabinetry, creating rhythm without overwhelming the simplicity. A tall mirror with concealed storage adds practicality, and beside it, open shelves keep the room airy. Tucked by the window is a compact study nook. Bathed in natural light, its marble-finished desk surface gleams white against the otherwise dark furniture, offering a perfect spot for focus and reflection.
The second bedroom tells yet another story, balancing the needs of two very different people: a child and the grandmother. The palette here is gentle and subdued, with furniture in warm wood tones and minimal black handles. Grey curtains add to the quiet backdrop. Yet the room carries a burst of energy through its feature wall, painted in a blue ombré that darkens near the floor and gradually lightens toward the ceiling. This wall becomes the heart of the room, playful yet calm. An oval mirror with hidden storage doubles as a dresser, while the headboard, suspended from a wooden rod with leather straps, introduces a playful twist. To soften the atmosphere further, the bedding is finished in a gentle pink that adds warmth without overpowering.
Walking through the House of Medley feels like moving through a collection of moods and personalities, each distinct but never disconnected. The living room is bold yet welcoming, the master bedroom calm yet striking, and the second bedroom gentle yet full of character. Together they create a home that is layered, joyful, and deeply personal. Just like a medley, it shifts in tone with every turn, yet always returns to harmony.
